Sara Mai Karlíčková is a Czech pianist who grew up in a musical family in northern Germany. She began studying the piano at the age of six with Maria Velten and developed an early interest in both solo and chamber music performance.
She has received numerous awards at national and international competitions. Among her most significant achievements are first prizes at the German competition Jugend musiziert, including a first prize at the national competition in the solo piano category (2023). She has also received the same awards at the Hamburg Instrumental Competition, the Marie-Louise Imbusch Prize, and a Yamaha Special Prize.
Alongside her solo activities, chamber music plays an important role in her artistic work. Since 2023 she has performed regularly with Czech flutist Lucie Benediktová as the duo SaLut. In 2024, the duo was awarded first prizes at the national Jugend musiziert competition (duo category) and at the Al Hoffmann Young Competition of the Young Academy Rostock (YARO). Together they have appeared at the YARO Excellence Forum, the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Festival, and other concert series and events dedicated to the promotion of young musicians.
Sara Mai Karlíčková was a pre-college student in the ISMA programme at the Lübeck University of Music. Since 2025 she has been pursuing a Bachelor of Music degree in the class of Prof. Konstanze Eickhorst. She has further broadened her artistic education through masterclasses with Prof. Jacques Ammon and chamber music courses in Aarhus and at the Nordland Chamber Music Course.
Since 2026 she has been a scholarship holder of the Dr. Herbert and Anne-Marie Lembcke Ad Infinitum Foundation.
