Petr Karlíček (b. 1972) studied piano at the Pilsen Conservatory with Karel Friesl and at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague with Miroslav Langer. In 1997, he was awarded a DAAD scholarship, which enabled further studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich under Gerhard Oppitz. He later continued his training at the Utrecht Conservatory with Kyoko Hashimoto and Alan Weiss, graduating in 2000 with highest distinction.
He further developed his artistic profile through masterclasses with musicians including Alexander Lonquich, Boris Berman, Eugen Indjic, Ferenc Rados, and Earl Wild.
Karlíček has performed as a soloist with orchestras and has appeared in recitals and chamber music concerts across Europe. His performances include Bartók’s Piano Concerto No. 3 in the Netherlands and a live broadcast recital at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. He has also recorded for Czech Radio and participated in international competitions, including the Eduard Flipse Competition in Rotterdam and the International Piano Concours Nueva Acropolis in Madrid.
He has been a guest at festivals such as the Janáček Festival in Almelo and has worked extensively as a chamber musician, including as a member of the Karlíček Duo.
Until 2022, he was active as a private teacher in Utrecht and taught at the Sirena Piano School. Since 2023, he has been based in Flensburg, Germany, where he continues his work as a pianist in both solo and chamber music contexts.
